What’s the difference between Status Qualifying Points and Redeemable Points?

Earning Points

As a Loco Rewards member, you earn two types of points, each with a different purpose. Redeemable Points get you rewards, and Status Qualifying Points help you level up your status.

Redeemable Points

These points are used to unlock rewards.

Redeemable Points expire on a rolling 180-day basis from the date they’re earned.

Example: If you earn 100 points on March 12, 2026, those points will expire 180 days later.

Status Qualifying Points

These points determine your status tier (Pollito, Pollo, or Pollo Loco).

Status Qualifying Points reset to zero every January 1.

Your status does not reset—you keep it for the full calendar year.

If you reach a higher tier during the year, you’ll receive that status immediately and keep it through the end of the following year.

Example:
If you earn 25,000 Status Qualifying Points in 2026, you’ll achieve Pollo Status (Tier 2). On January 1, 2027, your Status Qualifying Points reset to zero—but you’ll keep Pollo Status for all of 2027 while earning points toward your 2028 status. If you reach Pollo Loco Status at any point in 2027, you’ll keep that status for the rest of 2027 and all of 2028.
